New Delhi: To identify fresh talent, Delhi Golf Club (DGC) recently conducted a camp for children upto 17 years of age as part of its Junior Training Programme here. Children aged between 8 to 17 years came from across thecountry to participate in the event and played in different age categories — A, B and C. While recognising the effort of young players the President of Delhi Golf Club Rajesh Dhingra said, “We have had a very successful Junior Training Programme in place for close to three decades now. We will be able to filter our best golfers by encouraging these children.”

The tournament that had 76 children participating, many after two gruelling back-to-back IGU tournaments in the South, is another step in the continuous endeavour of the DGC to promote the game of golf among the juniors. The Club has a decade long tie-up with USHA which is also the annual sponsor of DGC Ladies Golf Tournament for past 30 years. Talking about the support and sports as a good exercise, the Chairman of the company Siddharth Sriram said, “For the last 25-30 years we have been sponsoring ladies and children golf and Men’s professional tour. We are sponsoring freezbie which again like golf can be played throughout life and is a healthy great fun family game. We are also doing Delhi marathon because it’s a good cheerful sport.”
