There was no shortage of controversy during the Day 2 of the Mumbai vs Jammu & Kashmir Ranji Trophy match at BKC Ground in Mumbai. Shreyas Iyer found himself in middle of drama after umpire decided to not give him out despite a clear edge when the ball went past his bat.

The incident occurred when Iyer was on 8 runs and he had clearly edged a delivery off Umar Nazir to the keeper. Despite nicking the ball clearly, Iyer remained at the crease with umpire S Ravi agreeing with him, giving the decision in favour of the batter and against J&K.

However a few deliveries later a similar incident happened when Iyer once again stood his ground despite clearly edging the ball to the keeper once again. This time, the umpire decided to raise his finger. However, Iyer refused to leave the crease. Instead he was having a chat with the officials along with skipper Ajinkya Rahane. However with no DRS available he had to head back to the crease after scoring just 17 runs.

Fans who were irked by umpires decision decided to vent out their frustration on social media platform X calling out the umpire favourtism towards Mumbai in the contest. Here's what fans said

After getting off to a strong start in their 2nd innings, Mumbai suffered a sudden collapse. Following a fifty-run opening partnership, Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal were sent back to the pavilion in quick succession. Hardik Tamore flopped once again while Iyer was finally dismissed after getting a lifeline thanks to the umpire’s blunder. Mumbai's woes compunded with Shivam Dube being dismissed for a second consecutive duck. In the 1st innings, Iyer only managed to score 11 runs.
