India's U19 World Cup winning captain Ayush Mhatre put on a show of ball striking in CSK's first home game of the season at the Chepauk. Walking into bat at the early fall of Sanju Samson, Mhatre struck the ball across all parts of the ground with a quick-fire half-century. The 18-year-old, who hails from Virar was dismissed for a duck last game, but amends on Friday.
Mhatre who opened the batting last season, was shifted down to No.3 to accommodate Sanju Samson and Ruturaj Gaikwad. That move did not start off well as he was dismissed for a duck against Rajasthan Royals.
With a point to prove, Mhatre arrived all guns blazing at the Chepauk in the first home game of the season. He struck a hat-trick of boundaries off Xavier Bartlett to get going, before clearing the likes of Vijaykumar Vyshak and Marco Jansen for sixes.
