Ahead of the Champions Trophy, South Africa has added Corbin Bosch as a replacement for the injured Anrich Nortje. Bosch has been included in the 15-member preliminary squad for the tournament, which begins on February 19.
Currently, South Africa is in Pakistan for a Tri-Nation ODI series, which will serve as a warm-up for the Champions Trophy. Bosch made his ODI debut for South Africa in December last year against Pakistan.
Along with Bosch, young talents Kwena Maphaka and Toni de Zorzi have been named as travelling reserves. The trio will leave for Karachi on Sunday to join the squad for the remainder of the Tri-Nation series.
Corbin Bosch’s International Debut
Bosch made an impressive Test debut against Pakistan, making an impact with both bat and ball. He took a wicket with his very first delivery and finished with figures of 4/63. With the bat, he played a crucial knock under pressure, scoring an unbeaten 81 at number nine. His innings helped South Africa secure a vital 90-run first-innings lead in a thrilling match.
Corbin Bosch’s Domestic Cricket Record
Despite his recent batting form, Bosch was primarily picked for his fast bowling. The 30-year-old has been in outstanding touch with the bat, averaging 96 in first-class cricket this season. However, as a bowler, his first-class record includes 72 wickets in 34 matches at an average of 36.75, with just one five-wicket haul in his career.
