Mumbai Indians' stand-in captain Suryakumar Yadav misunderstood a question asked by a reporter on MS Dhoni during a press conference on Saturday ahead of IPL 2025 clash against the Chennai Super Kings. With the reporter asking how he plans to control uncapped player MS Dhoni, the 34-year-old clarified by in turn asking, 'Control who? The umpires?'

The legendary Indian keeper-batter was retained as an uncapped player for ₹4 crore ahead of IPL 2025 auction as he has been retired from international cricket for more than five years now. However, the 43-year-old still carries the same aura and has the potential to clear any boundary at will.

Below is the video

With the reporter asking, what's his plan to control uncapped player Dhoni, the 34-year-old seemingly didn't hear it properly and asked:

"Control who? The umpires?"

When the reporter asked the question he laughed and said:

"Has anyone been able to control him from so many years? See it's always an excitement when you come to Chennai. When you watch him come out of the dressing room, it's always a good thing. We learn so many things from him and we still do whenever we get an opportunity. So, I'm really excited to see him again tomorrow. But from the other side, I'll be leading him, so it's a good challenge."

"I know what I have to do" - Suryakumar Yadav on finding back form

With form concerns around Suryakumar's form with the bat, he said the below, as quoted by ESPN Cricinfo:

"If I am practicing well, hitting the ball really well in the nets, when I go in the game, my mind is clear, I know what I have to do. That is the moment, that is the sweet spot for me. When I know that I am in good space and I will get runs for the side."
