Team India players are currently in Nagpur preparing for the first of he three-match ODI series. The three-match series will act as preparation for the Champions Trophy 2025 scheduled to start within a weeks time. Ahead of the match, a funny incident took place which left police personnel red faced.
In a video going viral on social media, throwdown specialist Raghu was stopped by the police, who mistook him for a fan and denied him entry. Raghu can be seen trying to convince the police that he is part of the team. However, he was not allowed to enter initially.
The person recording the proceedings started shouting "Arey coach hai woh. Team ke saath hai. Bus see utra hai. (He's a coach... member of the team. He just deboarded the bus). Raghu is an integral member of Team India's support staff. After a brief argument, the police realized their mistake and finally let Raghu in. The incident, however, left them red-faced.
Who is Raghu ?
Raghu plays a crucial role in Team India’s support staff, specializing in delivering accurate throwdowns to batsmen to help them prepare for real match scenarios. His expertise allows him to replicate the deliveries of fast bowlers, spinners, and even tricky bouncers, ensuring that players are well-equipped to handle different challenges during a game.
Raghu’s journey in cricket started with a dream of playing professionally. However, a hand fracture ended his ambitions as a cricketer. Determined to stay connected to the sport, he shifted his focus to coaching and training, eventually making a name for himself as a throwdown specialist.
His ability to generate deliveries at speeds exceeding 150 km/h caught the attention of the Karnataka state team, where he quickly became a favourite among players at the National Cricket Academy (NCA).
It was Sachin Tendulkar’s recommendation that earned Raghu a place in the Indian team’s support staff, where he has since become an invaluable asset in shaping India’s batting preparations.
