A day after the stampede in Bengaluru amid Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) celebrations resulted in at least 11 deaths, a stunning development has emerged. According to a report by The Deccan Herald, Bengaluru police strongly warned the state government and RCB against holding large-scale celebrations but both ignored their advice.

According to the official release by the franchise, the bus parade was to take place at 5:00 PM. Instead, the celebrations turned to a tragic incident as the stampede claimed 11 lives and at least 33 were injured. Many were admitted to nearby hospitals as the organisers of the event have come under the scanner.

A senior police officer told the publication that they advised the state government and RCB to hold the celebrations next Sunday when their emotions cool down significantly.

"We tried to discourage the government as well as the RCB franchise from Tuesday night against having any celebrations on Wednesday. We told them it would be ill-advised and recommended holding the event next Sunday when emotions would have cooled down. We strongly advised against a road procession. We said, bring the players directly to the stadium and conduct the event in a single venue."

Virat Kohli's quest to win an IPL trophy finally comes true

On the cricketing side of things, it was a highly emotional moment for Virat Kohli, who had been with the side for 18 years and been part of three losing finals. However, the Royal Challengers were finally able to cross the line against the Punjab Kings in the IPL 2025 final.

The score of 190 looked below par on the night and it was Krunal Pandya's brilliant figures of 4-0-17-2 that prove pivotal in RCB's six-run victory.
