In a rather unsual event during the match between Adelaide Strikers and Brisbane Heat on Saturday, Striker's left arm pacer Liam Haskett was hit for six by Nathan McSweeney only for his father to catch the ball in the stands. Haskett was making his debut in the game.

The incident happened on the third ball of the third over of Heat's innings. McSweeney picked up a half-tracker and sent it over the ropes, landing straight into the hands of a spectator whom former Australian cricketer Adam Gilchrist recognised and introduced while commentating for the Fox Cricket live broadcast.

Gilchrist said, “That man there is Liam Haskett’s dad–Lloyd Haskett. He sat back there and did not look thrilled at all with the proceedings. He played it very cool. We thought it was just a cool customer, but he was so disappointed that his son on debut had just been dispatched, and he caught the catch."

Adelaide Strikers beat Brisbane Heat

Adelaide Strikers crushed Brisbane Heat by 56 runs in a one-sided encounter. Heat woin the toss and opted to field first. Strikers skipper Matthew Short who opened the innings with Chriss Lynn smashed 109 runs off 54 runs which included 10 fours and 7 sixes.

Lynn got out for 47 runs. Alex Ross scored an unbeaten 44 runs to take team's final total to 251/5 iun 20 overs. Matthew Kuhnemann conceded 50 runs to pick up 3 wickets while Mitchell Swepson had two wickets to his name.

Heat had a monumental run chase and needed a solid start to keep themselves in the hunt. The batsmen got the start but could not convert it into big scores. Nahan Mc Sweeney scored the top 43 runs. Haskett finished with figures of 2/43, while D'Arcy Short was the pick of the bowlers with 4 wickets for just 15 runs.
