A massive development has emerged on the possibility of Asia Cup taking place this year. According to a report published by Cricbuzz, Dubai and Abu Dhabi will host the multi-nation tournament between September 10 to 28 and the BCCI will make an announcement soon. The participants are likely to be Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, UAE, Oman, and Hong Kong. India and Pakistan are also reportedly set to be in the same group.
According to the earlier reports, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) meeting was set to be held in Dhaka, Bangladesh and the BCCI was to attend the meeting virtually. The Asia Cup was arguably one of the major talking points of the meeting, given the window was earlier set for September 2025. Despite the venue reportedly decided as UAE, the BCCI holds the hosting rights for the tournament.
The precise schedule of the multi-nation tournament will be announced by the BCCI in the coming weeks. However, the clash between India and Pakistan could be in limbo due to the recent border tensions. A handful of Indian players had also pulled out of the recent World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025 game against Pakistan due to political conflicts.
Team India are the defending champions ahead of Asia Cup 2025
India, meanwhile, are the defending champions ahead of Asia Cup 2025. They had won the 50-over edition in 2023 by defeating Sri Lanka in the final by ten wickets.
Notably, the BCCI had plans to host the Asia Cup this year in India but the PCB had earlier declined to send their team to the neighbouring nation. PCB's response has come after the BCCI refused to send the men's side to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy 2025 earlier this year.
