Ahead of the much-anticipated ODI match at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack, players from the Indian and English cricket teams arrived in Bhubaneswar on Friday evening. They landed at Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA), where they were received under tight security.

Upon their arrival, both teams will check in at the luxurious Mayfair Lagoon in Bhubaneswar, a renowned host for international sports stars. Extensive preparations are underway to provide the players with a comfortable stay, with special focus on their health and dietary needs. The hotel has been adorned with lush natural decor, including manicured gardens, vibrant floral displays, and scenic pools.

The teams will head to Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on Saturday, February 8, for a practice session before the big match on Sunday, February 9. India enters the game with momentum, having secured victory in the first ODI against England in Nagpur on February 6.

Notably, this match marks Barabati Stadium’s return to ODI action after a six-year hiatus. The last ODI played at the venue was on December 22, 2019, when India defeated West Indies by four wickets. Historically, India has a strong record at Barabati, winning eight of its last ten ODIs there.

Established in 1958, the stadium, which sits along the banks of the Mahanadi River, has hosted three Test matches, 27 ODIs, and three T20 Internationals. With a seating capacity of around 40,000, it remains a significant venue in Indian cricket.

To ensure a smooth and secure event, the Odisha government, Odisha Police, and the Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) have implemented extensive security and logistical arrangements. Approximately 55 platoons of police force will be deployed in and around the stadium on match day.

Fans can expect an electrifying contest as India and England face off in this highly anticipated clash at one of the country’s most historic cricket venues.
