Following the mammoth success of ‘Ponniyan Selvan 1’ fans have been looking forward to the release of the concluding Part 2 with bated breath. In the past week, the makers treated the audience to the suspense surrounding the first single from the new movie’s soundtrack. And it’s finally here.
Titled ‘Aga Naga’, the song featuring Karthi as Vallavarayan Vanthiyathevan and Trisha as Kundhavai is a sonic treat from its opening notes. Composed, produced and arranged by A.R.Rahman, written by Ilango Krishnan and sung by Sakthisree Gopalan, the song is speculated to play during the scenes when Vanthiyathevan and Kundhavai are sharing a romantic moment. Gopalan sounds like a dream with this song.
All through the day, both Karthi and Trisha exchanged a friendly, mischievous banter on Twitter, keeping their loyal fan base engaged with their conversation, till the song dropped earlier on Monday evening. The buzz around the song was built through a poster which displays a blindfolded Karthi with Trisha who is armed with a sword.
Through the poster, the lack of trust can be gauged but Vandhiyathevan is hopeful that Kundhavai will see through him and accept his shortcomings and embrace him with love. Ilango takes you on a visual dream with his songwriting.
‘PS1’ ended with Arulmozhi Varman alias Ponniyin Selvan (Jayam Ravi) and Vanthiyathevan shown to be drowning to their death when Oomai Rani (presumably Nandini’s (Aishwarya Rai Bachchan) lookalike mother) swims to the depth of the Ponni river to save them.
The answer to all the questions and fan theories will finally find closure on April 28, 2023 with the release of ‘PS2’. Directed by Mani Ratnam and adapted from the anthology penned by Kalki Krishnamoorthy, the film also stars Vikram, Sarathkumar, Lal, Prakash Raj, and Parthiban.
