Telugu superstar Vijay Deverakonda, who recently headlined for wearing chappals at the trailer launch of his upcoming film ‘Liger’, didn’t just choose to do so by chance.
His stylist now reveals that Vijay specifically asked to wear them for the event and the reason will make you fall in love with him even more.
Vijay's stylist Harmann Kaur told Pinkvilla, "I was all prepped to make it really top-notch chill until Vijay called me one day and said let’s be closest to the character and keep a very underdog look. He specifically asked me for the basic chappals and initially, I was a little hesitant but I also always trust Vijay’s dressing up ideas because I know he ends up making it the talk of the country."
Harmann further added, "I was constantly nervous as the event was on a big scale, especially in Mumbai, and walking in wearing chappals worth Rs 199 was really brave of Vijay but I'm glad it was received with a lot of love."
Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh, who was present at the trailer launch was also impressed by Vijay’s sartorial choice and said, “Bhai ka style dekho, aise lag raha hai, ye mere trailer launch pe aaya hai ya main inke trailer launch pe aaya hu (Look at brother's style, it looks like, he has come to my trailer launch instead of me coming to his trailer launch). After John Abraham, if anyone has pulled off the style and swag of chappals, then its him.”
Meanwhile, the trailer of 'Liger' takes audiences on a rollercoaster from action to romance to drama.
The 2-minute-long trailer introduces audiences to Vijay's character, who's an MMA fighter in the film, and shows him acing the fight sequences with ease though he has a stammering problem.
Helmed by Puri Jagannadh and produced by Karan Johar 'Liger', which marks Vijay's debut in Hindi cinema, is all set to hit theatres on August 25, 2022, after getting multiple delays due to COVID-19. It will be released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.
