Jejuri in Pune district's Purandar Tehsil has been reeling under relentless rainfall for the fourth straight day. In the video which went viral from the Khandoba Temple on Monday, water was seen cascading from the staircase of the temple like a waterfall. Meanwhile, this is the second such day when the staircase turned into a waterfall at the Khandoba Temple. Even on May 16, a similar situation was seen at the temple.
Locals compared the intensity of the downpour to a cloudburst, as continuous rain for over half a day triggered flooding in low-lying areas, filled up local drains and water bodies, and disrupted normal life.
The torrential rain, which persisted for nearly 12 to 15 hours, caused heavy water flow down the footpath leading to the iconic Jejuri Fort. A massive crowd of devotees, who had gathered for darshan suffered from the waterlogging. Videos from the site showed gushing water flowing over steps and pathways, making it difficult for pilgrims to move safely.

Heavy rains lashed Baramati, Indapur, and Daund tehsils on Sunday, prompting the National Disaster Response Force to deploy two specialised teams on the urgent request of the district collector.
The May rain recorded in the three tehsils is unprecedented in the last 50 years, Pawar said while carrying out an inspection of affected areas with Collector Jitendra Dudi.
Visuals from Daund showed an Innova car getting swept away in water. Meanwhile, the Nira canal breach led to water gushing into many houses in Baramati tehsil on Sunday.
