Villagers Forced To Cremate Elderly Woman’s Body On Road In Satara After Farmer Blocks Path To Crematory |

In a shocking and humiliating incident in Kharshi Tarf Kudal village, Javali taluka, Satara, villagers were forced to cremate an elderly woman’s body halfway on the only road leading to the village crematory. The body had to be cremated on the road after a local farmer stubbornly refused to clear the path despite villagers’ pleas and a clear order from the Tehsildar not to block it.

The dispute over access to the cemetery road has been ongoing for several days and is currently pending in the tehsil court. The conflict began earlier when the relatives of late soldier Dinkar Salunkhe faced a similar blockade, prompting authorities to issue a stern warning to the farmer. Nevertheless, the farmer defied the order again, leaving villagers with no choice but to perform the last rites on the road.

Residents have expressed deep anger and humiliation, asking: "When will this defiance end, even in death, due to one person’s stubbornness and administrative delays?" They are now demanding that the district administration take strict action against the farmer and resolve the road access issue permanently.
