Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol on Thursday inaugurated the new Air Traffic Control (ATC) Tower at Kolhapur Airport, along with a Technical Block and Fire Station. He also flagged off the inaugural Star Air flight connecting Kolhapur and Nagpur.
Sharing the update on X (formerly Twitter), Mohol said that the new high-tech ATC tower is a significant milestone in improving the infrastructure for air traffic management at Kolhapur Airport. “The ATC is a vital part of air traffic operations, and a technologically advanced building has now been set up for this purpose. This upgrade will boost the airport’s capabilities and benefit the people of Kolhapur,” he wrote.
He added that the newly inaugurated facilities aim to improve air safety, enhance emergency response systems and strengthen regional air connectivity within Maharashtra.
Mohol also expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome he received and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing modern and inclusive aviation infrastructure to all regions.
“Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the Ministry of Civil Aviation is making steady progress in developing airports across the country and upgrading key infrastructure at existing airports,” he said.
