The Suryadatta Group of Institutes (SGI), Pune, founded on February 7, 1999, under the Suryadatta Education Foundation, is proudly celebrating its Silver Jubilee Year. Over the past 25 years, SGI has emerged as a beacon of quality education, innovation and social commitment, with its mission firmly rooted in empowering students for the 21st century.

With a diverse network of over 30 institutions — including schools, colleges, training centres and vocational hubs — Suryadatta offers education across the full spectrum from KG to PG and beyond. Approximately 20 of these are affiliated with prestigious state universities, including Savitribai Phule Pune University, KKSU, YCMOU, MUHS, and other regulatory bodies such as AICTE, PCI, BCI, MSBTE, CBSE and the Government of Maharashtra.

At the heart of SGI’s vision is its dynamic founder, Prof Dr Sanjay B Chordiya, who has infused traditional learning with cutting-edge technology and value-based education. “In an age of rapid change, we must prepare students not just with degrees, but with skills, character, and entrepreneurial spirit,” says Dr. Chordiya. Under his leadership, SGI has embraced holistic education that fosters innovation, patriotism, start-up culture, and global citizenship.

A hub of future-ready learning

Suryadatta has introduced a wide range of skill-based and technology-driven programmes in Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, Fintech, Drone Technology, Cybersecurity, Aviation and more. With 80+ national and international MoUs — including a Centre of Excellence for AI in Singapore — the institute ensures global exposure and high employability for its students. Optional overseas study tours to countries such as Dubai, Singapore, Malaysia, the UK, the US, Canada, and Australia further enhance this global approach.

Students also benefit from career guidance for competitive exams such as UPSC, MPSC, NEET, MBBS, NDA and judiciary. Foreign language courses (including French, German and Spanish), soft skills training, and personality development modules further bolster the learning experience.

Learning beyond the classroom

SGI’s pedagogy is rooted in experiential learning. Students engage in industry and NGO visits, fieldwork, research assignments and mini-projects. The “Earn While You Learn” model, along with hobby and fitness classes — ranging from yoga and Zumba to music, performing arts, karate, and boxing — fosters well-rounded development.

The Centralised Placement Cell (CPC) plays a vital role in bridging the gap between academia and industry, with numerous success stories and start-ups to its credit. In fact, SGI has helped establish over 60 student-led start-ups and even created tinkering labs for school students.

Driven by social responsibility

Beyond academics, SGI is committed to its social responsibilities through its Edu-Socio Connect initiative. Inspired by the legacy of Late Ratanbai and Bansilalji Chordiya, SGI offers free skill-based education and training to economically deprived sections, farmers, Divyang children, public servants, Armed Forces personnel and loyal employees.

Over 50 voluntary institutions under this umbrella conduct awareness programmes, career guidance and community development initiatives, reflecting SGI’s belief in “Education for All.”

Records, awards & recognition

SGI has entered 10+ unique world records for innovative events like the 7,000 kg Maha Misal, 24-hour silent reading marathons (Wreadthons), and large-scale yoga and laughter therapy sessions. The annual Suryadatta National Awards recognise luminaries from all walks of life, with past awardees including legends like Pandit Bhimsen Joshi and Dr BKS Iyengar.

The institute is also a member of the UN Global Compact for Sustainable Development. Its digital and green campus includes solar power systems, rainwater harvesting, e-waste management and a Wi-Fi-enabled learning environment to reduce its carbon footprint.

A global alumni network

Today, Suryadatta boasts over 1 lakh students and alumni — fondly called “Suryans” — across India and abroad. Its alumni network includes professionals, entrepreneurs, artists and social leaders, making meaningful contributions in diverse sectors.

The road ahead

As it marks 25 years of educational excellence, Suryadatta continues to expand its footprint academically, socially and globally. With a commitment to innovation, inclusivity, and value-based learning, SGI is truly nurturing the billionaires of the 21st century — not just in wealth, but in knowledge, integrity and purpose.
