In a shocking incident, a 21-year-old girl died by suicide after her brother scolded her for going out without informing the family and uploading a picture of her outing on WhatsApp status. The girl has been identified as Matamma Bhimashankar Shinge (a resident of Lakshmi Tekdi, Sadar Bazar, Satara, originally from Karnataka).

According to the information received, Matamma lived with her family in the Lakshmi Tekdi area. On Monday morning, she had gone for a walk in the Satara city area. However, she did not inform her family before going out. During the walk, she took some photos and uploaded them as her WhatsApp status.

After her brother saw the status, he returned home in the evening. He got angry, questioning why she had gone for a walk without informing anyone and why she had uploaded the photos. Upset by the scolding, she consumed poison. Her family members immediately admitted her to a private hospital in Satara for treatment. However, she died during treatment later that night.

The incident has been registered at Satara City Police Station, and Police Sub-Inspector Anil Jayapatre is investigating further.
