The residents of all the three localities in CIDCO Waluj Mahanagar are facing acute water problems in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. They have to wander miles to get a pot of water.

The residents action committee on Thursday submitted a memorandum to the CIDCO administration to regularise the water supply to these localities and stop the water woes of the residents.

CIDCO has established three localities in CIDCO Waluj Mahanagar including Mahanagar – 1, 2 and 4. The residents gave good response to these localities and purchased houses. The population of these three localties is more than one lakh. Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) used to supply 5 to 7 MLD water here.

However, the water supply to these areas has been inadequate and irregular for the past 15 days. Considering the population, the water supply should be around 12 to 14 MLD daily. The residents had agitated on several occasions to increase the water supply, but the administration paid no heed to their demand.

The CIDCO administration had demanded additional water supply to MIDC, but it was not done as the required amount was not paid. Hence, the residents are facing severe inconvenience due to lack of water and have to restore the water from the private tankers, which is very costly for them. They warned that they will launch massive agitation for water, if the demand for additional water supply is not met.
