An altercation between a traffic police officer and a cab driver on a busy Pune road has gone viral on social media. The incident reportedly took place near Pune Railway Station on Wednesday morning.
According to local media reports, a minor accident had occurred involving the cab and another vehicle, after which the cab driver parked his car on the roadside. At that moment, the traffic policeman arrived in his vehicle and told the driver, “You are blocking traffic and disturbing people.” This led to a heated argument between the two.
In the ensuing confrontation, the cab driver allegedly abused the policeman, prompting the officer to stop his vehicle and physically assault the driver. The cab driver recorded the altercation on his phone, and the clip has since been widely shared online.
Meanwhile, netizens have slammed the traffic policeman for physically assaulting the cab driver.
"Most of the people recruited in police and traffic police are goons themselves. They are inspired from previous generations of police misusing their job entitlements," a user wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
"Welcome to Bihar... ohh sorry Maharashtra... Yes, Maharashtra is now behaving like Bihar. No law and order, powerful and money people can do anything they want," commented another user.
A third user asked, "Has anyone come across a police officer who speaks politely with citizens? Especially traffic police and at police stations?"
