In a bid to attract female customers, a clothing store in Pune's Rajgurunagar area offered dresses at just ₹1 on Republic Day. However, the marketing stunt backfired as hundreds of female customers gathered, forcing the owners to shut the store and flee.

According to the information received, Aditya Wholesale Mill, a clothing store in Rajgurunagar, had launched a promotional offer on January 26. The news of the offer — one dress at ₹1 — spread like wildfire. As it was a national holiday, an enormous and uncontrollable crowd gathered outside the store to take advantage of the offer.

The crowd, consisting predominantly of women, grew aggressive after the owner shut the store. "If they don't give the dresses at ₹1, we will break open the store and take the dresses," one angry woman said. The women then staged a rasta roko. The incident caused severe traffic congestion in the area, prompting police intervention to disperse the crowd.
