According to the police, on March 11, Police Sub-Inspector Ajit Bade and his team were patrolling in the Shivajinagar area when Police Constable Sachin Jadhav received intelligence from an informant. The tip-off revealed that Kamble, wanted in a murder case registered at Shivajinagar Police Station under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) including 302 (murder), 141, 142, 143, 144, 145, 147, 148, 149, 120(B), the Arms Act, the Maharashtra Police Act, the SC/ST Atrocities Act and the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA), was expected to be in the Dandekar Bridge area of Dattawadi.

Senior Inspector Chandrashekhar Sawant (Shivajinagar Police Station) revealed that a police team was deployed to take immediate action over the information. Accordingly, a trap was set up, leading to Kamble’s arrest near Dixit Bagh, Dandekar Bridge, Dattawadi. Upon questioning, he confirmed his identity and later confessed to the crimes.

Sandeep Singh Gill, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone 1 said, "Kamble had managed to evade the police for nearly two years by frequently changing locations. He avoided using mobile phones, making it difficult for law enforcement to track him. When he needed to contact his family, he would travel to different states and use random travellers' phones, further misleading the police."

Kamble is a history-sheeter with multiple serious offences registered against him. One of his most infamous crimes was the "Mundi Murder" case in Yerawada, where he reportedly played football with the severed head of a victim.
