In a strange incident on Thursday, a two-wheeler owner lay down in front of a towing vehicle in Pune's Alandi and Dehu Phata area, refusing to move as the Pimpri Chinchwad traffic police took action against illegally parked vehicles.

The police were towing away illegally parked two-wheelers in front of Kale Colony near Dehu Phata when the incident occurred.

The man, allegedly frustrated by his vehicle being towed, lay directly in front of the towing van, preventing it from moving. He resisted the police's repeated attempts to relocate him, which resulted in alengthy argument between him and the officers.

Onlookers gathered around the scene as the situation worsened. Numerous commuters started to express their worries and ask the authorities to provide alternate parking options for cars at Dehu Junction and Alandi City. They also urged the installation of odd-even date boards across the area to regulate parking. The crowd expressed their displeasure with the fact that no designated parking areas or provisions had been made, leading to repeated illegal parking violations and the subsequent towing actions.

The protest continued for a while, but eventually, the police were able to persuade the two-wheeler owner to stand up. He was then required to pay a fine before his motorcycle was returned to him.

"The motorcycle of the individual was parked in a no-parking zone, and towing action was taken. The concerned person, who was intoxicated, refused to pay the fine and lay down in front of the towing vehicle, thinking that this would prevent the action against him. After explaining the situation to him, he paid the fine and took his motorcycle," said Satish Nandurkar, Police Officer, Traffic Department.
