Pune University Traffic Woes To Be Resolved Before Monsoon, Flyovers To Baner, Aundh And Pashan Set To Open By June 15 |

The most awaited double flyover at Savitribai Phule University Chowk is under construction. However, the big news for Punekars is that the first phase of the flyover is set to open in April, and the entire flyover will be open by June 15 this year.

The flyover connecting Aundh to Ganeshkhind will be open for vehicles in the first week of April, said MLA Siddharth Shirole on Saturday.

The flyover connecting Ganeshkhind Road to Baner and Pashan will be operational by June 15.

Moreover, the construction of the metro bridge and station is underway at a swift pace.

Due to the ongoing construction work of the flyover at University Chowk, Punekars are facing severe traffic congestion and inconvenience despite various measures taken by the Pune Police to ensure smooth traffic flow.

On Saturday, during an inspection with other officials, Shirole added, "We have been consistently working for the past two years to expedite the project. The project faced several challenges due to the high volume of vehicles in the area. Land acquisition issues and road widening were also necessary. Despite these challenges, the traffic police have managed the situation well to avoid congestion, although traffic flow has slowed."

The dedicated teams are putting in their full effort to complete the flyover before the monsoon season.

Aundh to Ganeshkhind Road to open by April

"The construction of the Ganeshkhind Road flyover is complete, and the ramp connecting Aundh to Ganeshkhind Road will be ready by the first week of April. This will ease the flow of vehicles from Aundh to Ganeshkhind Road. The land required to construct the ramp towards Baner has been acquired, and further construction work will start soon. It is expected that the work will be completed within the next five months. However, some more land is still in the process of acquisition," he added.

Once the Pashan ramp is constructed, vehicles from Ganeshkhind Road will be able to reach Pashan smoothly. Both ramps are planned to be completed by June. The opening of these flyovers is expected to significantly ease traffic congestion in and around University Chowk.

During the inspection, PMRDA Chief Engineer Rinaz Pathan, officials from Tata Company (which is executing the metro project), Deputy Commissioner of Traffic Police Amol Zende, Assistant Commissioner Nanda Vagyani, Police Inspector Meenal Patil, and Sunil Gawli were present.
