Pune: The death of a married woman from Baramati taluka in Pune district has drawn attention in the region. Sayali Jadhav was reportedly killed by her husband, Akshay Jadhav, in Kalaburagi, Karnataka, on March 25. The victim’s family has requested the strictest punishment, including the death penalty, for the accused.

According to police and family members, Akshay had taken Sayali to Karnataka, stating they were visiting a temple in Gangapur. While travelling, an argument arose between the couple regarding suspicions about her character. Akshay then reportedly removed Sayali from the car and assaulted her on the roadside, allegedly using a sharp weapon to injure her.

The violence did not stop there. Sayali, who was already seriously injured, was then run over by the same car. She died on the spot. The incident occurred on a busy road and has sparked fear and anger among the locals. A video of the incident has also circulated on social media, adding to public outrage. Police suspect that the murder was premeditated.

The victim’s family has made serious allegations against the accused. They claim that Sayali was facing constant harassment for money from her husband. He was allegedly pressuring her to bring money from her parents for building a house and buying a vehicle. The family also stated that she was often beaten.

Sayali’s aunt, Rohini, said that Akshay had a history of troubling behaviour. She claimed he had married Sayali without informing the family and continued to harass her after the marriage. She also said that he had called her a day before the incident, asking her to convince Sayali to return and forget their disputes. Shortly after, Sayali went to the bank, and later that day, she was killed.

The family expressed deep grief, saying they were unable to even see or bring back her body. They have urged authorities to take strict action and ensure justice.

The incident has led to growing anger in Baramati, with locals demanding severe punishment for the accused. The police investigation into the case is ongoing.
