Vivek Velankar, the President of Sajag Nagrik Manch, has alleged that the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has not installed water meters at several official properties within the PMC's jurisdiction, including the Mayor's bungalow, the municipal commissioner's residence, the additional commissioner's residence, and the collector's bungalow. This revelation came in response to a Right to Information (RTI) query.
After Velankar's initial query, the PMC's water supply department had committed to installing water meters in the residences of all government and semi-government officials in Pune to ensure accountability for water consumption.
However, subsequent inquiries, conducted on Right to Information Day on October 12, revealed that water meters were still missing from these locations. This situation raises concerns about the water supply department potentially disregarding or allowing excessive water usage in these specific areas.
We tried to reach out the official of the PMC's Water Supply Department for a response but we did not receive a reply.
