The kidnapping and brutal murder of Santosh Deshmukh, the sarpanch of Massajog village in Beed district, has sparked political turmoil. The case has led to accusations and counter-accusations among political figures, with BJP MLA Suresh Dhas taking a strong stance.

Dhas specifically questioned the source of Munde's wealth, referring to a large flat near Magarpatta City in Pune. He noted that the entire floor was registered in the name of Munde's driver and asked, "If this is not Munde's money, then whose money is it?" Additionally, Dhas pointed out that several properties, under investigation by the Jain Multistate, are jointly owned by Dhananjay Munde's wife and Walmik Karad. Dhas also indicated that he would approach the ACP for further inquiries into the matter.

From the outset, Dhas repeatedly referred to an individual he called aaqaa (the master), leading many to wonder who this person might be. Initially vague, Dhas later became more specific, identifying the "master" as Walmik Karad. He further claimed that Karad's master (aaqaa's aaqaa) was Dhananjay Munde, and even raised questions about Munde's wealth during an interview with a news channel.

Leaders meet Maharashtra guv for removal of Dhananjay Munde

Political leaders cutting across the party lines on Monday called on Maharashtra Governor C P Radhakrishnan, urging him to remove Dhananjay Munde from the state cabinet to ensure a free and fair probe into the killing of Beed sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh.

On December 9, Deshmukh, the sarpanch of Massajog village in Beed district, was tragically kidnapped, tortured, and killed. It is believed that his actions were motivated by a desire to stop extortion attempts against an energy company associated with a windmill project.

Walmik Karad, Munde's assistant, is one of seven people police have detained in connection with the case thus far.

Karad's involvement has drawn criticism, especially after he publicly surrendered on December 31, 2024, via a social media video.

Large crowds attended the event at the CID headquarters in Pune, raising worries about possible disruption and favoritism.

The leaders have called for harsh punishment against careless police officers, a murder case against Karad, Munde's resignation, and steps to stop extortion and hooliganism in Beed.
