Three youths drowned in Pimpri-Chinchwad's Indrayani River, officials said on Saturday. They have been identified as Raj Aghame (25), Akash Gorde (24) and Gautam Kamble (24), all residents of Gharkul in Chikhali, they added.

According to Vikram Bansode, Senior Police Inspector, Dehu Road Police Station, "4-5 boys had come for swimming in Kinhai village's Indrayani River. Three of the boys drowned at around 3pm on Friday. Upon receiving the information, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), fire brigade, and locals all reached the spot."

"By 6pm, the rescue team found the individuals, following which they were rushed to the Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial (YCM) Hospital in Pimpri, where they were declared dead," added Bansode.

Meanwhile, in another similar incident on Friday, four children drowned in the Ulhas River in Thane after they went there to wash off their Holi colours.

The children were identified as Aryan Medar (15), Om Singh Tomar (15), Siddharth Singh (16), and Aryan Singh (16), all residents of Poddar Gruh Complex in Chamtoli.
