Pimpri-Chinchwad: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has conducted a large-scale anti-encroachment drive along the Mumbai–Bengaluru National Highway service roads to facilitate road widening and ensure smoother traffic movement. The operation covered areas under both D Ward and B Ward offices.

In the D Ward jurisdiction, service roads on both sides of the highway between Pavana River Bridge and Mula River Bridge, spanning approximately 7 km in length and 24 metres in width, were cleared of encroachments. Notices were issued to 110 structures prior to demolition.
The drive was carried out under the guidance of Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Singh, Additional Commissioner Pradip Jambhale Patil, and City Engineer Makrand Nikam. It was led by Assistant Commissioner (Encroachment Department) Atul Patil, D Ward Officer Amit Pandit, and B Ward Officer Ashwini Gaikwad.
The D Ward operation, led by Zonal Officer Amit Pandit, was supported by the Executive Engineer (Urban Transport), Deputy Engineerr, Beat Inspectors, Deputy Engineers from the Electrical Department, Town Planning surveyors, 70 Maharashtra Security Force personnel, and police teams from Wakad and Ravet stations. The action deployed eight JCBs, two cranes, 30 labourers, and other machinery including breakers.
In B Ward, the drive was conducted under the leadership of Zonal Officer Ashwini Gaikwad. Teams included Deputy and Junior Engineers from the Building Permission Department, five beat inspectors, 55 Maharashtra Security Force personnel, 20 police personnel, and both PCMC and private labourers. Six JCBs were used in this clearance operation.
Following the drive, the service roads along the Mumbai–Bengaluru Highway are now free of encroachments, making them safer and more convenient for commuters. PCMC has also warned that any future illegal constructions on these roads will face strict action.
