A heart-wrenching incident unfolded at the revered Sajjangad Fort on Sunday morning, where a 16-year-old girl lost her life shortly after achieving her heartfelt dream of climbing the fort. The deceased has been identified as Shrawani Rahul Limkar, a resident of Karmala Road, Karmala in Solapur district.

Shrawani, a Class 10 student, had been born with a hole in her heart and was undergoing ongoing medical treatment. Despite repeated warnings from her doctors and the firm advice of her father to avoid physical exertion, Shrawani insisted on joining her private tuition classmates on a trip to Sajjangad in Satara district.

After reaching the base of the fort, all the students began climbing the stairs from the parking area. Shrawani too took up the challenge, determined to experience the spiritual and historical significance of Sajjangad firsthand. After an arduous climb, she finally reached the top of the fort.

Overwhelmed with joy and pride, Shrawani immediately called her father and said, “Papa, look, you were saying not to go, but I climbed the fort.” Moments after the call, she suddenly collapsed.

She was rushed to hospital by friends

Friends and fellow students rushed to her aid. Realising she was unconscious, they quickly carried her down to the parking area. She was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Satara. Tragically, despite all efforts, she passed away during treatment.

Shrawani’s untimely death has cast a pall of gloom over her classmates and community. Known for her soft-spoken nature and academic brilliance, her passing has left her friends devastated. Many broke down upon hearing the news, expressing regret that she hadn’t heeded her father’s heartfelt warnings.

"She should have listened to her father," some friends cried, as they mourned the loss of a young life filled with dreams and determination.
