Nashik: The lavish wedding ceremony of self-styled godman Ashok Kharat’s daughter was held in February this year, and the Special Investigation Team (SIT) is now likely to trace the VIP guests who attended the event. According to information available with the SIT, prominent leaders from both the ruling and opposition parties, along with senior officials, were present at the ceremony.

Apart from influential personalities from major cities, some foreign guests were also reportedly in attendance. It is further learnt that IAS and IPS officers remained present throughout the wedding ceremony. Sources indicate that the SIT has begun preparing a list of senior officials who attended the event in order to examine their links with Kharat. While suspicion already surrounds several political leaders allegedly connected to Kharat, the SIT is also gathering information about certain senior officers.

During the investigation, it has come to light that Kharat was using four different mobile numbers. According to sources, one number was allegedly reserved exclusively for VIP individuals, while another was meant for select devotees. A third number was reportedly used for financial transactions, whereas the fourth was used for communication with the general public.

The forensic team has initiated an investigation to retrieve data from all these mobile numbers and related devices. Special emphasis is being placed on collecting digital evidence as part of the probe.
