Nashik: The investigation into the Nashik TCS workplace harassment case has now turned attention to the period during which key accused Nida Khan was allegedly staying in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar while evading arrest. The Nashik Police Special Investigation Team (SIT) is examining how she arranged accommodation there and the people who may have helped her.
Police suspect that former AIMIM corporator Mateen Majid Patel helped arrange a place for Khan to stay. Patel and the house owner, Hanif Sheikh, have been named as co-suspects in connection with the matter. Police have also examined Patel's mobile phone and are looking into information obtained from the device.
Khan had remained away from the police after the case was registered in connection with allegations of sexual harassment, offensive remarks and pressure on female employees to convert their religion at the Nashik TCS office. Police later traced her to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar through technical analysis and other information gathered during the investigation.
The case came to light in March 2026 after a female employee raised allegations against colleagues at the Nashik office. The investigation alleged that Raza Rafiq Memon had mentally harassed the complainant, while Khan and other employees were accused of assisting him.
The SIT is investigating nine complaints linked to the case. These include allegations of harassment and exploitation of female employees, outraging the modesty of women, hurting religious sentiments and mental harassment. TCS had suspended employees suspected of involvement after the allegations emerged.
A major development in the case came in July when the Sessions Court granted bail to Khan. The Additional Sessions Court considered her health and the future of her unborn child while deciding the bail plea. At the time, she was five months pregnant. The court also observed that there was no apparent possibility of the accused influencing witnesses or destroying evidence.
The police have completed a major part of their investigation and filed a chargesheet running to around 1,500 pages. The document reportedly includes details gathered about Khan's stay in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and the alleged assistance she received while she was away from the police.
Investigators are now expected to examine the circumstances surrounding her accommodation, the people who were in contact with her during that period and any financial or communication links that could shed light on the case. Data recovered from Patel's mobile phone may also form part of the continuing investigation.
The allegations against the accused are yet to be established before the court, while the SIT probe and judicial proceedings in the case are continuing.
