Nashik Shocker! Man Sets Sanitation Worker On Fire With Petrol Saying 'Happy Holi', Worker Dies From Burns

The man who was set on fire by a drunkard as he poured petrol saying 'Happy Holi' has succumbed to his injuries, the official said on Tuesday.

The incident took place on Friday evening at Thakkar Bazar bus stand, Sarkarwada police station. The accused has been identified as Shubham Jagtap.

As per the information shared by police to PTI, "Shubham Jagtap had poured petrol on Vijay Gehlot near a public toilet because he used to be often bullied by the latter. Jagtap was held on Saturday. Gehlot, who sustained 60 percent burn injuries, died this morning at the district hospital."

Now, Jagtap has been charged with murder after Gehlot's death.

According to the information received from the police, Gehlot was working as a sanitation worker at Thakkar Bazar bus station in Nashik. At that time, accused Shubham Jagtap came there. The sanitation worker tried to keep Jagtap out of the area, who was in a drunken state. He also told him not to come to the bus station area again.

Enraged by the action of the sanitation worker, Jagtap poured petrol on Gehlot. Then, saying "Happy Holi," he set him on fire with cigarette lighter. Gehlot was seriously burnt in the fire. Some people there tried to extinguish the fire. After that, Gehlot was immediately admitted to the hospital for treatment.
