Maratha Vidya Prasarak Samaj-run Karmaveer Abasaheb and Narayan Mansaram Sonawane Arts, Commerce and Science College, Satana, was honoured with the 'Best College in Rural Areas' award by Savitribai Phule Pune University. The award was presented at a grand ceremony organised in Pune on Monday on the occasion of the university's 76th anniversary.

On this occasion, the State’s Minister for School, Higher and Technical Education Chandrakant Patil, Padma Shri Dr Shankar Abhyankar, Vice-Chancellor Dr Suresh Gosavi, Pro Vice-Chancellor Dr Parag Kalkar, MVP General Secretary Adv Nitin Thackeray, Vice President Vishwas More, Secretary Dilip Dalvi, Director Dr Prasad Sonawane, Adv RK Bachhav, Shalantai Sonawane, Educational Officer Dr Nitin Jadhav, Principal Dr Vijay Medhane, along with faculty and other dignitaries, were present.

Under the leadership of Principal Dr Vijay Medhane, the college was selected from three districts under Pune University's jurisdiction due to its innovative initiatives, unique research contributions and consistent academic excellence. This award was presented in the non-professional rural colleges category and includes a memento, certificate and a cash prize of Rs 1.5 lakh.

MVP General Secretary Adv Nitin Thackeray, along with office bearers, the principal and faculty, accepted the award. The faculty and staff of the college have received appreciation from all levels for this remarkable achievement.

On this occasion, Vice Principal Dr Narendra Nikam, Coordinator Dr Rajendra Vasait, Dr Sahebrao Kamble, Dr S.B. Andhale, Prof Nilesh Patil, Prof Amit Nikam, Dr RB Ahire, Prof Tushar Khairnar, Prof Swapnil Shendge, Prof Sagar Mane, Prof Aadesh Raut, Prof Sandeep Kurkute, Deepak Wagh and several non-teaching staff members were present in Pune to receive the award.
