The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has issued a notice to remove encroachments on the Hazrat Satpir Syed Dargah located in the Kathe Gali Signal area of the city. Promising major action, the NMC has given a deadline of 15 days to the encroachers. According to the notice, the management of the dargah has been asked to remove the encroachments on its own. Otherwise, the NMC has warned of taking action backed by police protection.

A few days ago, the NMC removed some controversial parts of the dargah under police protection. Now there are indications of taking action against the entire unauthorised area. After this notice, everyone's attention has been drawn to what role the trustees of Satpir Dargah will take. Earlier, when action was taken to remove encroachments in the dargah, the trustees had rushed to the Waqf Board.

The municipality has recently issued a notice to Satpir Dargah. This notice has commented on unauthorised construction. As per the order of the Supreme Court, the list of unauthorised religious places in the NMC’s area was published on Mar 4, 2019. Accordingly, Hazrat Syed Satpir Baba Dargah General Vaidya Nagar, Kathe Galli, Nashik has been declared as a ‘B’ class unauthorised religious place.

Accordingly, the NMC is likely to start the action to remove this unauthorised religious place soon. However, before that, the concerned parties should remove the relevant unauthorised religious place on their own within 15 days from the date of pasting the notice, otherwise, the NMC will remove the unauthorised religious place without giving any prior notice, the notice states.

“According to the government's decision to remove unauthorised religious places, as per the decision taken by the Municipal Commissioner and the committee formed by the High Court, this religious place is unauthorised. It has been decided to take action to remove it. For this, a 15-day notice has been given to remove the relevant encroachment on their own," said Additional Commissioner Smita Zagade.
