Nashik: MLAs Demand Rapid Metro, Kumbh Mela Projects & Revitalization Of Historic Ahilyadevi Kund Ahead Of 2027 Kumbh |

With the Simhastha Kumbh Mela just two years away, MLAs Pankaj Bhujbal and Seema Hiray have made a strong demand in the assembly session for running the metro in Nashik. The MLAs also demanded to speed up projects planned before the Kumbh Mela, such as the metro, dry port, Nashik-Pune railway, and Shivsruthi.

MLA Pankaj Bhujbal demanded that the metro should run in Nashik on the lines of Pune and Nagpur. He also appealed to ensure that ancient temples and old houses are not damaged due to metro works. He also demanded that the Simhastha Kumbh Mela to be held in Nashik in 2027 should be planned on the lines of the Uttar Pradesh government. Additionally, he demanded that the kund established by Ahilyadevi Holkar in the Godavari riverbed, which has been blocked due to the concreting of the municipal corporation, be revived on Ahilyadevi's birth anniversary on May 31.

MLA Hiray demanded that the projects of metro, dry port, Nashik-Pune railway, and Shivsruthi be accelerated for the Kumbh Mela. She also raised the demands for the freehold of houses in CIDCO, an increase in the honorarium of Anganwadi workers, acceleration of the IT Park, lack of facilities in ESI Hospital, and construction of a 100-bed hospital in CIDCO.

Both the MLAs demanded that these projects be immediately funded and started on track as Nashik will be branded across the country on the occasion of the Kumbh Mela. MLA Pankaj Bhujbal also demanded that the state government follow up with the central government regarding the minimum support price so that farmers get a fair price for their crops.

"In Nashik, the Kund established by Punyashloka Ahilyadevi Holkar between 1776-1795 in the Godavari river basin has been extinguished due to concreting by the Nashik Municipal Corporation. This tank should be revived on the 300th birth anniversary of Ahilya Devi on May 31," said Pankaj Bhujbal, adding that if the water from Nar-Par is available for Nashik District, it will be of great benefit to the agriculture of Nashik.

There is no space left for playgrounds, hospitals, and gardens in the metropolises of big states. Therefore, MLA Pankaj Bhujbal also demanded that the government should make a condition of keeping space for such facilities while giving permission for new buildings.
