Igatpuri taluka in Nashik district, known as the home of rain, is currently experiencing a severe water shortage. Despite an average of 3500 mm of rain in the taluka, 18 tankers are still needed to supply water to 17 villages. Due to the apathy of the administration, the poor and tribals in Igatpuri are facing artificial water shortage, locals allege.

Due to the lack of effective implementation of drinking water schemes and the lack of proper implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission, residents, especially women, are facing great hardship.

The villages currently receiving water supply through tankers include Walvihir, Manjargaon, Sonoshi, Aadharwad, Maidara-Dhanoshi, Kurungwadi, Ambewadi, Chinchle Khaire, Khed, Bhavli Budruk, Awalkhed, Vasali, Waghera, Mundegaon, Khairgaon, Bharwaj-Nirpan and Kaluste.
