Ahilyanagar Police have arrested three illegal Bangladeshi nationals in a joint operation with Southern Command Military Intelligence for illegally staying in the Pokhardi area of Ahilyanagar for the last two years. The accused had succeeded in obtaining dummy Aadhaar and PAN cards.

The accused have been identified as Jahangir Abutaher Sheikh (34), Hanif Abdul Khalid Sheikh (40) and Musharraf Sheikh (40) - all natives of Hajiganj, Chattogram, Bangladesh.

Acting on a tip-off received at around 10:30pm on Thursday, the authorities launched an operation in Pokhardi. During the raid, three individuals were found living without any valid travel documents, visas, or identity cards issued by the Indian administration.

Investigations revealed that the individuals had been working as labourers at a local construction site for the past two years under false identities, using forged Aadhaar and PAN cards. Police have seized all fake documents, and an FIR has been registered against the accused at the MIDC Police Station.

Joint interrogation is currently underway to ascertain any links to anti-national elements (ANEs) or wider networks of illegal immigration.

A senior official of Ahilyanagar Police said, “Police are interrogating them. More such Bangladeshi nationals may be residing in Ahilyanagar and other regions of Maharashtra. Further investigation is underway.”

Somnath Gharge, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Ahilyanagar, added, “Staying illegally is a crime. Police will take strict action against such people. Such coordinated efforts will continue in the future.”
