In a shocking revelation, the incident of the sexual exploitation of the minor girls by the manager of the zilla parishad (ZP) residential sports school ‘Krida Prabhodini’ Pramod Gulabrao Kharat has come to the fore in Jalna.
The parents of the victims had made a complaint in this regard with the district collectorate. During the inquiry conducted by the education committee, the victims told the officers about the sexual harassment they were getting in the school. A case has been registered against Kharat with the Kadim Jalna police station on Sunday night.
Zilla Parishad runs a resident sports school in Jalna. Kharat works as a manager in the school since 2019. The boys and girls of the school have brought laurel to the district in several state and national level sports competitions. However, Kharat has sexually exploited the girls of the institute during the period of June 1 and July 24. The girls complained to their parents that Kharat had done such acts which will feel them ashamed and also threatened them. The parents then approached the district collector and lodged a complaint against Kharat.
After receiving the complaint, the officer of the education department visited the school and interacted with the girls and the boys. The girls told the centre head Sujata Bhalerao about the harassment they faced. After the inquiry block development officer Manoj Kolhe lodged a complaint with the Kadim Jalna police station on Sunday.
Accordingly, a case has been registered against Kharat under BNS, 2023 section 74, 7 and POCSO Act section 8, 10,12 and Child Justice Act section 75. API Aarti Jadhav is further investigating the case.
The girls complained that Kharat used to call them at the places in the school where no CCTV cameras were installed and used to touch them wrongly. Initially, four girls had given complaints but later seven to eight girls also came forward and complained.
The police arrested Kharat and produced before the court on Monday. He has been remanded in police custody for two days.
