Hingoli: Special Assistance Camp Held For Kin Of Women Who Died In Tractor Trolley Accident

Two days after the tragic incident in Asegaon village, Nanded district, where eight women died after a tractor trolley fell into a well, a special assistance camp was organized in Gunj, Vasmat taluka in Hingoli.

The tragedy occurred when agricultural laborers from Gunj were traveling to Alegaon Shivara in Nanded district for work. Out of the 11 women on board, eight lost their lives, and three were rescued. The state government has taken responsibility for the education of the children of the deceased.

Additional District Collector Anil Machevad and Additional Chief Executive Officer Anup Shengulwar visited Gunj to provide government scheme benefits to the kin of the deceased. Tehsildar Sharda Dalvi was also present.

The camp was organized on the orders of Hingoli District Collector Abhinav Goyal and Nanded District Collector Rahul Kardile, where kin received various certificates and scheme benefits.

The state government has already announced an assistance of Rs 5 lakh for families of the deceased.

The accident occurred at around 7:30 am in Asegaon village, which lies under the jurisdiction of Limbgaon police station, when the vehicle veered off the road and fell into the nearly 90 feet deep well filled to the brim with water. At the end of the operation, the bodies of eight women were fished out of the well, while three others were rescued.

The open well was nearly 90 feet deep, and about 20 feet of water was pumped out with the help of electric motors to pull out the bodies and the tractor-trolley. The well was filled to the brim, and the tractor-trolley was not visible from outside. The rescue operation was carried out with the help of the fire brigade, disaster management personnel, and local villagers. A team of fire brigade personnel lifted out the tractor using a crane and belts.

The women were on their way to harvest turmeric at a farm. All those who died hailed from Gunj village under Vasmat tehsil in Hingoli district.
