Hingoli: 42,330 Women Declared ‘Lakhpati Didi’ Under Union Government Scheme

Hingoli: The union government has implemented the ‘Lakhpati Didi’ scheme to provide financial aid to women for starting self-employment and making them financially stable. Under the scheme, women are provided guidance for starting various businesses to earn more than Rs 1 lakh annually. In Hingoli district, 42,330 women have become ‘Lakhpati Didi’. A central team visited Hingoli district in July and declared these beneficiaries as Lakhpati Didi. They will be given certificates signed by the chief minister.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has started several schemes to empower women in the country. The Lakhpati Didi scheme aims at providing better financial stability to women, enabling them to earn lakhs of rupees annually through various businesses. These women are declared as Lakhpati Didi and are felicitated with certificates. 

A team from the union and state government recently visited every district to identify Lakhpati Didis. The teams conducted a survey of 2,01,256 women members of self-help groups in the district, of which 42,330 were declared Lakhpati Didis. Among them, 4,499 were from Aundha Nagnath taluka, 11,621 from Vasmat, 7,856 from Hingoli, 11,088 from Kalmnuri, and 6,166 from Sengaon taluka.

The women beneficiaries who earn more than Rs 1 lakh annually through two or three sources are considered Lakhpati Didi. They are provided bank loans, community investment funds, PM Micro Food Processing Industry Scheme benefits, bank linkage, and District Industry Centre assistance.

Project Director Namdev Kendre said the identified Lakhpati Didis will be provided certificates signed by the chief minister. The proposals of 42,330 beneficiaries have been sent to the government. Self-help groups have been established to make women living below the poverty line financially stable. Presently, there are 10,581 such self-help groups in the district. Last year, 2,736 self-help groups were provided financial help of Rs 77,71,54,000 in the district.
