Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol on Friday announced that flyers will be able to avail themselves of the DigiYatra service at the new terminal building of Pune Airport from February 8.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Mohol wrote, "DigiYatra will be operational at Pune Airport's new terminal starting 8th February!" "Say goodbye to long queues and paperwork with: seamless & paperless entry, faster security clearance, and reduced wait times," he added. "A big step towards smarter, faster, and hassle-free travel," the Pune MP further said.

The new terminal, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in March 2024, spans an area of 22,000 square metres and has a passenger handling capacity of 7 million annually.

Reportedly, the number of DigiYatra users at the old terminal was inconsistent last year. In January, 1.73 lakh passengers used the facility, the highest since its launch. However, the numbers dropped to 1.36 lakh in May.

Meanwhile, Pune Airport crossed the 1 crore passenger mark in 2024, recording around 8 per cent growth in passenger traffic compared to 2023. The airport also recorded the highest-ever passenger volume in December, according to data received by The Free Press Journal.
