In good news for Punekars, the Pune Metro has decided to extend its timings until 11pm from January 26 onwards. This comes after commuters persistently demanded the extension of operating hours. Currently, the metro runs from 6am to 10pm on both routes - the Purple Line (Pimpri-Chinchwad to Swargate) and the Aqua Line (Ramwadi to Vanaz).

"Good news for Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad residents!" a post on Pune Metro's official X (formerly Twitter) handle read. "In response to the overwhelming support and demand, Pune Metro is pleased to announce extended passenger service hours starting from Republic Day, January 26, 2025. Now, Pune Metro will operate daily from 6am to 11pm," it added.

After the announcement, Maha Metro Managing Director Shravan Hardikar said, "Keeping in mind the increasing usage of Pune Metro and the demand from passengers, we have increased passenger service. This will greatly benefit citizens who go home late from work at night. It will provide citizens with a public transport option that reaches on time and is safe."

He added, "One Pune Transit Card will be available for just Rs 20 on Republic Day, with this, Metro is trying to promote the digital ticket option."
