A group of doctors from Sasson General Hospital (SGH) on board an IndiGo flight from Dehradun to Pune saved the life of a 35-year-old man who suffered a cardiac arrest mid-air on Wednesday.

The flight (6E 402) took off from Dehradun at 11:50 AM and was scheduled to land in Pune at 2:10 PM. Half an hour into the flight, the young man collapsed due to a heart attack. The flight attendant made an announcement requesting any doctors on board to come forward. Fortunately, a group of doctors from SGH, who were returning from a research project in Dehradun, responded and saved the man’s life.

Dr. Aarti Avinash Kinikar, Head of the Department of Pediatrics at Sassoon Hospital, along with her team members Dr. Rahul Daware, Dr. Vasudha Belgamkar, and Dr. Surekha from Aundh Civil Hospital, provided life-saving assistance.

Speaking to the Free Press Journal, Dr. Kinikar said, "It was a very eventful journey for us from Dehradun to Pune on the IndiGo flight. One of the passengers collapsed mid-air, and our team sprang into action. The flight was diverted to Jaipur for an emergency landing to offload the resuscitated passenger. We are all back home now. This is the second time we have saved a life mid-air on an IndiGo flight. We encourage healthcare workers to get trained in Basic Life Support (BLS)."

Despite the delay caused by the emergency landing, IndiGo Airlines commended the doctors and extended heartfelt gratitude for their heroic efforts.
