The Indian Railway has decided to redevelop 508 railway stations across the country. The work was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi online on August 6, 2023. Under this redevelopment scheme, these stations will be equipped with basic amenities and modern facilities. The Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Railway Station is being redeveloped at a cost of Rs 241.27 crore. The construction of the new building is ongoing, and the station will feature enlarged entry and exit gates as well. MP Dr. Bhagwat Karad recently reviewed the progress of the ongoing work. South Central Railway Divisional Manager Pradeep Kamale was present during the review, where officers were briefed about the redevelopment progress.

The complete redevelopment is expected to be finished by April 2025. The new station will have a 450-meter roof plaza, four chambers, and various other modern facilities. The existing railway station building will be demolished in May, and a new structure will be built in its place. A railway bridge is also planned at the Railway Station MIDC, costing Rs 75 crore. A Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the bridge will be prepared soon. Additionally, a tunnelway is proposed at Mukundwadi Railway Station, according to the officers.
