Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation, CSN FIRST, and Purnam EcoVision Foundation organised an inter-school competition “Best Out of E‑Waste” on Saturday.
In all, 33 schools presented a total of 150 innovative projects that creatively repurposed e‑waste. The competition witnessed overwhelming participation with over 1,000 students registering their interest and more than 400 projects submitted. From these, 138 standout projects were carefully selected for the final display, highlighting solutions that intertwined technology, energy conservation, and sanitation.
The event was inaugurated by dignitaries including Mukund Kulkarni, President of CSN FIRST; Joint Commissioner Ankus Pandhare from the Municipal Education Department; City Engineer Avinash Deshmukh; MASIA President Chetan Raut; and General Manager Bharat Damle of Purnam EcoVision Foundation. The panel of judges comprised Dr. Ranjan Garg, Dr. Deepak Boranare, Dr. Prashant Avasarmal, Dr. Uttam Kulkarni, Dr. S. B. Kulkarni, Hemant Ambhore, Dr. Praveen Thakare, Ravindra Shenlagavkar, Gulabrao Ambhore, and Shilpa Nandedkar—evaluated the entries with keen attention to technical merit and innovative potential.
Speaking on the occasion, Mukund Kulkarni said the reuse of e-waste is the need of the hour. CSN FIRST will continue to organize the “E‑Waste to Best” competition annually. He added that the top 10 projects will receive industrial support to further develop their ideas into market-ready products, thereby reinforcing the commitment to sustainable innovation.
Ankush Pandhare stressed that e‑waste poses one of the major challenges of tomorrow, urging that even at the school level, young minds should concentrate on devising technology-driven, practical solutions.
The success of the event was also attributed to the dedicated efforts of contributors including Abhay Raj Kapoor, Habeeb Sheikh, Hemant Landge, Chandrakala Shinde, Rishikesh Dongarkar, Riddhi Wadikar, Dakshata Parab, Lalit Jadhav, and Nikhil Bhalerao. The event concluded with heartfelt gratitude from CSN FIRST’s Honorary Secretary, Sunil Chaudhary, to everyone involved.
