Aurangabad: Residents Of MHADA Colony Launch 'Handa Morcha' Over Water Supply Crisis In Waluj

MHADA Colony is a large residential locality in Waluj Mahanagar Phase – 1 area. Similarly, several colonies have been established in this area, and hence the population of this area has increased considerably.

The water woes of the residents of the MHADA Colony do not seem to cease, and the water supply situation, grappling between the disagreement of Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) and MHADA, is getting grave day by day. On Wednesday evening, the angry residents launched a ‘Handa Morcha’ to press their demands. The residents were pacified after the intervention of the police.

MHADA Colony is a large residential locality in Waluj Mahanagar Phase – 1 area. Similarly, several colonies have been established in this area, and hence the population of this area has increased considerably. Around six months ago, this area was supplied water from MHADA, but later it was handed over to MIDC. However, there is a disagreement over the issue of water bills between these two authorities. As a result, the area is not getting regular water supply. The residents are facing severe hardship due to the disagreement of both authorities. The water issue in this area has become severe. Most of the residents are workers, and they are out of their houses during the day for work. After becoming tired in the evening, they have to face water problems. The residents had complained to the authorities about the water problem orally and even in writing.

As the water problem was unheard of, the residents resorted to a Handa agitation on Wednesday evening. The Waluj MIDC police intervened and convinced the angry residents to withdraw the agitation. The residents then handed over a memorandum to PSI Sandeep Kale and returned. However, they have threatened to launch a severe agitation if the water problem is not resolved.

Residents Ashwini Motinge, Pratibha Hole, Shubhangi Lokhande, Savita Tangade, Sangeeta Salunkhe, Kalyani Garje, Anand Didhathe, Santosh Motinge, Ram Chauthe, Babasaheb Ghadge, Subhash Patil, Trambak Kulkarni, Amol Waghmare, Digambar Mate, Manish Hole, Govind Dethe, and others participated in the agitation.
