The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation fire brigade officer and his assistant for taking a bribe of Rs 7,000 for issuing a no-objection certificate (NOC) for establishing a petrol pump. The action was executed at the Bansilalnagar fire brigade office on Tuesday afternoon. The accused officer has been identified as Raiba Bhagwan Patil (59, Chief Fire Officer, CSMC Quarters, Padampura) and his assistant Vaibhav Vijayrao Bakade (38, Seven Hills fire station quarters).

According to the details, the complainant had to start a petrol pump at Narayanpur Budruk in Gangapur taluka. He needed an NOC from the fire brigade department for it. He applied for the certificate with the fire department. However, Patil and Bakade demanded Rs 10,000 for issuing the NOC, but later the deal was settled at Rs 7,000. Still, the complainant did not want to give the money to the officer and hence lodged a complaint with the ACB.
The ACB officers initially confirmed that the officers had demanded the bribe and then laid a trap at the fire brigade office at Bansilalnagar on Tuesday afternoon. Patil and Bakade were arrested red-handed while accepting the bribe from the complainant. The action was executed by PI Amol Dhus, Yuvraj Hiwale, and others.
