In yet another accident involving a heavy vehicle, the turn taken to avoid sewage turned out to be the last turn in the life of Saee Bhagwat, who was studying in the arts stream at Fergusson College.
As per the report by Sakal, Saee (age 20) died on the spot after being hit by a cement truck near Mahadev Nagar on Sinhagad Road. Saee was on her way home after finishing college work on Thursday afternoon. While going from Hingne to Tukai Nagar, she moved bike a little to the side to avoid sewage flowing on the road. At the same time, a cement truck coming from behind hit her. Saee died on the spot in this horrific accident.
Saee Bhagwat was a brilliant and versatile student living in Bhansali Complex in Vadgaon. Saee, who made her mark in the field of drama, had achieved success in many cultural competitions including the Purushottam Karandak competition.
Saee’s father, Dr. Shrikant Bhagwat, works in Thane for a job in a pharma company; while her mother, Deepshree Bhagwat, works as a professor at Kalmadi Kaveri College. She had gone to college around 12 noon. The entire area, including the family, has been plunged into a sea of grief after learning that their only daughter has died.
Assistant Police Inspector Sameer Kadam, under the guidance of Police Inspector Dilip Daingde, is conducting further investigation.
Just two weeks before, a tragic road accident took place near Gangadham Chowk in Bibwewadi around 7 am, where a woman lost her life on the spot and a man sustained injuries after a truck rammed into their scooty from behind.
The two were on their way to Upper Bibwewadi when the truck struck. CCTV footage captured the moment the vehicle hit them from the rear. Locals quickly gathered at the scene and helped rush the injured man to the hospital for treatment.
