The Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) in Pune is hosting ARMEDiCON 2025, the 73rd Annual Armed Forces Medical Conference, from January 28 to 30. This distinguished event is the only multi-speciality conference of its kind in the country, serving as the largest platform for interaction and knowledge exchange among medical, dental and nursing professionals of the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force.

"ARMEDiCON 2025 underscores the commitment of the Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) to pioneering institutional, multicentric and collaborative research. The conference will showcase cutting-edge advancements and innovations that benefit not just the Armed Forces, but also the wider civilian healthcare community," stated a press release.

Under the patronage of Lt Gen Sandeep Thareja, Director and Commandant of AFMC Pune, the three-day event will address a wide spectrum of critical healthcare challenges and opportunities. The conference will feature an array of enlightening discussions, workshops and presentations, furthering the vision of excellence in medical research and healthcare delivery within the Armed Forces.

Renowned healthcare experts and academicians will enrich the conference through thought-provoking talks, including Dr Rajiv Bahl, Secretary, Department of Health Research & Director General, ICMR; Dr Ashutosh Nath Aggarwal, Professor & Head, Department of Pulmonary Medicine, PGIMER, Chandigarh; Dr Rajiv Sarin, Director, Advanced Centre for Treatment Research and Education in Cancer (ACTREC), Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai; and Prof Rohit Srivastava, Vigyan Shri, Himanshu Patel Chair Professor, Department of Biosciences and Bioengineering, IIT Mumbai.

The conference will also be attended by key dignitaries from the Armed Forces, including Lt Gen Sadhna S Nair, Senior Colonel Commandant of the Army Medical Corps; Surgeon Vice Admiral Kavita Sahai; Lt Gen Vineet Sharma, Colonel Commandant of the Army Dental Corps; Air Marshal MS Sridhar, Lt Gen Shankar Narayan, Commandant of the Army Hospital (Research & Referral); Surgeon Vice Admiral Anupam Kapur; Lt Gen Shivinder Singh, Commandant of the AMC Centre & College (Online); and Lt Gen Bhupesh Kumar Goyal, DG (Organisation & Personnel) (Online).

"ARMEDiCON 2025 will not only serve as a forum for research and academic policy deliberations but will also facilitate meetings of various core committees, including the Armed Forces Medical Academic Committee (AFMAC), MJAFI Governing Council and AFMC Management Committee, further strengthening AFMS’s academic and operational framework," the release added.

"Over the years, the conference has evolved into a pivotal platform for the planning, evaluation and implementation of medical research and healthcare innovations. While its primary focus addresses the unique healthcare challenges of the Armed Forces, the conference’s contributions extend far beyond, offering solutions and insights that benefit the larger healthcare ecosystem," it further read.
