In a bid to ensure the safety of passengers at the Pune Railway Station and its premises, 140 new CCTV cameras are set to be installed before May, newly appointed Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Rajesh Kumar Verma, told the media on Tuesday. Currently, only 78 CCTV cameras are functional at the station.

Following a video conference with Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Verma addressed the media. During the press conference, journalists raised several questions, including the safety issue at the railway station. "Our dedicated team is active at all points. Any lapse in security will not be tolerated. Women's safety is our priority," he added.

The DRM stated that additional trains would be arranged to ease the rush of passengers travelling to north Indian cities. "Due to a significant rush of passengers travelling between Pune Railway Station and states like Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, the existing train services are inadequate to meet the demand. To address this issue, a proposal has been submitted to the Railway Board for additional trains to Danapur and Lucknow. If approved, extra trains will soon be operational."

When asked about the long-pending Pune-Nashik railway project, Verma said, "The Indian Railways will complete the project soon." Speaking about the waterlogging issue at the railway station, Verma added that a dedicated team has been working and the issue has been resolved. The rest will be solved pre-monsoon.
